This tour kicks off with a breathtaking view of modern-day skyscrapers at Raffles Place, the world-famous Merlion takes pride of place in front of this sparkling skyline and then weaves through these very skyscrapers, with sights and stories of interesting historical buildings that punctuate the route, until we arrive at “The Big Durian” (aka The Esplanade). The participants are gradually transported back in time, into Singapore’s past. They will learn about Singapore’s settlement times as we walk along the Singapore River to wander through Boat Quay and Clarke Quay (including a stop at the statue of Sir Stamford Raffles) – akin to how early settlers arrived at the commercial centre of Singapore. The tour ends at Chinatown Food Street where an authentic Singapore dining experience along with a diverse range of local fare awaits the famished.
