Meet our tour guide at Singapore Botanic Gardens (Gardens Shop @ Tanglin Gate). From there, our experienced urban forager guide will explain how one can reconnect food with places and people. Designed for city dwellers, our urban forager and farmer guide will showcase food our grandparents used to harvest from the wild. This foraging and farm tour will take you around the Botanic Gardens and Dempsey, where you'll be taught to identify edible plant species.

As we progress along, our guide will introduce you to two urban farms based in Dempsey. Both farms started to act as the missing link in the modern fabric, strengthen the understanding and respect for food and its origins. Showcasing local and regional produce like never before.


In line with our wild food Safari, our guests can enjoy a cuppa or refreshing beverage in a safari-themed cafe located in the heart of a tropical garden. Embracing the outdoors and taking on a more rustic African Safari-like concept, the cafe is set in a hardy tent-like structure with wood being the primary element in its furnishings. We will then end off the tour at another urban farm to taste some local edibles .


At the end of the tour, participants will understand that urban foraging is an under-explored facet of the alternative food movement. It is a part of the nation’s attempt in food security to achieve “30 by 30”. Food foraging adventures are a hot new travel trend, and tours are popping up in cities and forests all across the globe. Picking and eating plants growing in the wild may seem primitive to city dwellers in Singapore, but that is slowly changing, thanks to a global food trend that is catching on here.
