Some interesting catches not to be missed include Cola gigantea, the cousin of Cola nut tree (Cola nitida), whose nuts were used in the older version of the Coca Cola recipe, and the Gnemon tree, whose seeds are used to make the infamous Belinjo crackers in this region. Apart from the fruit and nut trees, we will also want to impress upon you what some of the weeds and beautiful plants growing in the park can really be used for. Imagine a natural pot stain remover, edible plants growing on the trees and on the ground, and many more.
Our tour leader (an experienced grower of wild edibles) will also share the what’s and how’s of growing wild plants as food at home. She walks the talk and will demonstrate this by preparing an instant beverage right before your eyes and please your palate by letting you sample the pre-packed “greens”. If that is not enough, how about learning “Guerrilla farming” – a type of farming method some die-hard growers choose to adopt. Or, if you think you are all ready to lay your hands on some plants, our tour leader will also provide first-hand information on “How to Own a Part of a Park”.
We shall end the trail and chill at Wawawa Bistro and enjoy the tranquillity of the reservoir (Optional and at own expenses).
This tour can be conducted in English, Mandarin or both languages.
