The tour starts with a drive-by visit to the last surviving village on mainland Singapore – Buangkok Village, a community of about 30 families and a microcosm of a bygone era.

The tour continues on to Seletar, a charming district that has been spared the frenetic pace of Singapore’s transformation into a modern global city. Conserved old black and white houses that were once homes of personnel of the British RAF stand as reminders of the nation’s colonial past. Get up close to the parked planes of Seletar Airport by strolling along a boardwalk that is right next to the airport runway. Given its history and its location, it is no wonder that Seletar is currently home to a vibrant aerospace and aviation-related industry.

There is of course more to Seletar. The Hampstead Wetlands Park, a go-to place for photography buffs, is a haven for birds and other wildlife that inhabit freshwater ecosystems.

Rower’s Bay Park at Lower Seletar Reservoir is ever popular with kayaking and dragon-boating enthusiasts.

Regarding Seletar’s F&B scene, there is Soek Seng 1954, a popular “bicycle cafe” and the cluster of refurbished colonial bungalows at The Oval that have been transformed into impressive F&B and lifestyle establishments.

The tour ends with a visit to the Sembawang Hot Spring Park, a beautiful rustic park housing a natural hot spring. From there, tour participants may opt to be dropped off at the Yishun MRT Station or Chong Pang City (the first neighbourhood centre of Yishun New Town and named after Chong Pang Village).

This tour starts at Buangkok MRT station and ends at Yishun MRT station.
